Exotic Pest Monitoring Series

This exotic pest monitoring series was completed in response to a USDA-APHIS request that each state identify those pathogens that can cause serious economic damage to growers. Exotic pests included in this series are either currently found in Utah, and need proper control management, or could be introduced to commonly grown crops in Utah.

The two economic factors considered to be of greatest concern to growers are; severe impacts to plants due to an infections agent leading to reduced product quality or limiting export of product to lucrative markets due to quarantine issues related to an exotic pest. Many of the exotic pests included in this series have the potential to cause both crop loss and export restrictions.
